Self-Powered, Ultra-Fast CuO Nanocubes Surface for Broadband Photosensing Applications

The advancement of the portable optoelectronic platform has opened a significant research interest towards self-powered photosensing devices. This paper presents the ultra-fast broadband self-powered photosensing devices using copper oxide (CuO) nanocubes as a sensing layer. The proposed CuO synthesis and device fabrication process are wafer scalable for mass production. The photosensing performance of the CuO nanocubes based device was tested for broadband wavelength spectrum (ultraviolet (UV)-near infrared (NIR)). These fabricated broadband photodetectors have shown enhanced performance parameters such as selectivity, sensitivity, stability, speed and scalability. Jones at 880 nm. In addition, the devices are self-powered with a significant PDCR and photosensitivity. This broadband photosensing device exhibits highly repeatable, reliable and reproducible results with an ultrafast switching speed of 81.4/81.4 μs. The stability of the device has been tested using transient analysis for 500 cycles at room temperature. The proposed broadband photosensing devices can be deployed for next generation self-powered portable systems.
