Android-Based Smart Stick Using Radar with Haptic Feedback for the Visually Impaired

This study aims to develop a smart stick using radar technology while using vibrations as feedback for the visually impaired. The system consist of a Raspberry pi, RF transmitter, RF receiver, Bluetooth module, power supply, and smartphone. The study compares radar and the results of ranging with other methods such as ultrasonic waves and laser detection and ranging. The results will provide insight on which ranging technology may be best to install in a smart stick and if haptic feedback is reliable. The study concludes that radar is a reliable ranging technology that can be used on smart sticks and that haptic feedback is a great and new experience of sensing for the visually impaired.
