Design and Analysis of a MIMO Multiband Patch Antenna for 5G mm Wave Wireless Applications

This work presents an iterative approach for the designing of a radiating patch, based on a microstrip structure to enable operations in the millimetre (mm) wavelength operating range. The proposed method arrives at a feasible solution to the satisfaction of the multiband requirements of the mm-wave range MIMO applications for the future. The final antenna resonates at multiple bands like 42.61 GHz, 52.159 GHz, 64.6 GHz and 71.67 GHz with a good return loss characteristic. The patch is placed on 1.2 mm thick Rogers 5880 dielectric substrate with a dielectric constant of 2.2. The gain of the final structure hovers around 4.2 dB to 6.7 dB and VSWR in the range of 1.5. The design made for the antenna disseminates that it vies with the other strategic models accomplished in the contemporary, and the throughputs, range-of-coverage, band-spectrum is above the prescribed levels of functionary, and the same could be corroborated with the presentation made in this paper.
