Wireless Power Transfer in Parity-time-symmetric System with intrinsic Quasi-Bound States in the Continuum

Parity-time (PT)-symmetric systems originating from non-Hermitian physics have demonstrated potential applications in multiple areas, especially wireless power transfer (WPT). Moreover, the bound states in the continuum (BICs) have attracted considerable attention owing to their novel physical mechanisms and high adaptability to various physical systems. Herein, a parity–time (PT)-symmetric system consisting of dielectric metasurfaces and metal antennas is proposed to enhance wireless power transfer efficiency. The results demonstrate that the existence of intrinsic quasi-bound states in the continuum (BICs) in metasurface can notably boost magnetic-field coupling during wireless power transfer. Furthermore, the influence of different lattices and antenna sizes on the transfer efficiency are well investigated. Our results shed new light on wireless power transfer system for autonomous intelligent device and have potential applications in many other areas, like sensing, positioning, and so on.
