Optimal Current Allocation Study for an Energy Router Utilizing Si IGBT/SiC MOSFET Hybrid Modules

The paper proposes a hybrid energy router structure based on Si IGBT/SiC MOSFET modules to further optimize the current ratio between Si IGBT and SiC MOSFET. This aims to reduce the cost and losses of the module while enhancing its operational lifespan. The design involves developing cost, loss, and operational lifespan models related to the rated current of power devices. A multi-objective particle swarm optimization method is employed to optimize the multi-objective model, obtaining the optimal ratio.An experimental setup for the energy router is constructed to validate the proposed methodology. Compared to a design using all SiC MOSFETs, the energy router based on the optimal current ratio exhibits reduced current ripple and higher power quality. Moreover, the total cost is reduced by 31.8%.
