Iron Loss Measurement in Winding Structure of Inductors for Low Permeability Magnetic Materials

A two-winding inductor is a commonly used method for measuring core loss in magnetic materials for power converter circuit. When using this test method in experiments, the iron loss in low permeability cores cannot be measured as accurately as in high permeability cores. This paper proposes a single-winding method for accurate loss assessment of inductors under actual operating conditions and demonstrates its validity through measurement results obtained from BH analyzers and buck converter.
