Investigation of SISC on Electromechanical Characteristics of External Rotor Permanent Magnet Generator

This paper presents a comprehensive investigation into the electromechanical characteristics of synchronous generators with external rotor permanent magnets subjected to stator interturn short-circuit faults. We focus on key electrical and mechanical parameters, namely phase current, zero sequence current, and electromagnetic torque. Theoretical analysis of these electromechanical characteristics in external rotor permanent magnet generators is conducted in depth. Additionally, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) calculations and experimental verification are performed on a 13kW external rotor permanent magnet generator. This study offers valuable insights to support fault diagnosis and design optimization of external rotor generators.
