Grid-forming Control for Three-Phase Multi-Port DC-AC Converter in Battery Integrated PV Systems

This paper presents a grid-forming control strategy for the three-phase multi-port converter in battery integrated photovoltaic (PV) systems. By integrating the battery storage into PV systems, the necessary system inertia along with the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of PV, can be realized, simultaneously. A grid-forming control strategy not only facilitates the free distribution of output power between PV and energy storage, but also ensures MPPT under various operating conditions. The effectiveness of the control and the robustness of the system against varying solar irradiance and load conditions is validated through MATLAB/Simulink simulations and will be verified by experiments.
