TPS-MPC Method with Backflow Power Optimization for Series Resonant DAB Converter

The isolated DC/DC converter can be used as the former power supply of Class-D power amplifier, which should satisfied the characteristics of bidirectional power flowing capability and high power density. In this paper, a series resonant DAB converter is proposed, which can effectively serve as a former power supply. The converter generates backflow power under single phase-shift (SPS) control, and it inevitablely increases the system’s losses. In addition, the power supply needs fast response speed to reply the rapid changes in load. In order to solve aforementioned problems, a model predictive control (MPC) with backflow power optimization is proposed. The simulation models are built on PLECS, and compared with the models under SPS control. The results show that the proposed method can significantly reduce the backflow power, and improve the dynamic response performance of the series resonant DAB converter.
