Design of IPT application for MVDC current sensor auxiliary power supply with constant voltage control

The medium voltage direct current (MVDC) distribution network transmits power at a high voltage of tens of kV, which requires control through sensors to prevent the exacerbation of MVDC distribution network accidents. The high voltage of these MVDC distribution network means that high-voltage insulation is required between the sensor and the distribution line and for any power supply device electrically connected to the sensor. This paper proposes a safe and reliable power supply method using the inductive power transfer (IPT) method. A wide air gap between the transmitter and the receiver is secured to supply safe and reliable power, and magnetic flux cancellation control is applied to supply constant power when the vertical separation distance fluctuates due to external impact. A 48W prototype has been constructed and is verified by experiments.
