A Switching Frequency Optimization Method for High-Efficiency Single-Phase Inverters

In single-phase inverters, Boundary Current Mode (BCM) modulation is often used to reduce the switching losses of power devices. BCM modulation has the problem of wide range of switching frequency variation as well as high turn-off losses at light loads. In order to solve the problems of BCM modulation, this paper derives the loss analysis model of power devices, analyzes the principle of BCM modulation, and designs an optimization method which optimizes the switching frequency. While minimizing the total loss of power devices, the switching frequency range is significantly reduced. PLECS simulation verifies the effectiveness of this optimization method, and the power device losses have been reduced by 30%.
