Parameter-Free Deadbeat Predictive Current Control for PMSMs Using Improved Closed Loop Observer

Deadbeat predictive current control (DPCC) is a promising current control method for permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) due to its innate merits of easy implement, fast dynamic response, and excellent current ripple. However, the DPCC is high parameter sensitivity because the acting voltage vector is predicted based on the machine model. To bypass this problem, a parameter-free DPCC for PMSMs using improved closed loop observer (ICLO) is proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, the ultra-local model (ULM) is used instead of the machine model to predict the acting voltage vector. Besides, the parameters of the ULM are estimated by an innovative ICLO and a sliding mode observer according to the input and output data of the drive system. Hence, the proposed method is free from machine parameter dependence. Final, experiments were carried out on a 2kW electric drive platform to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
