Train Trajectory Cooperative Optimization on Coupling Process at Junctions

Virtual coupling as an emerging technology can shorten the train headway and improve the capacity of the railway without expanding the existing infrastructures, thus has been widely concerned by the industry. Virtual coupling process at junctions is not only the slow points for traffic efficiency improvement, but is also constrained by the significant safety requirements of switch moves, thus is the key of virtual coupling technology. In this paper, a train coupling process model is developed after fully considering the constraints introduced in the junctions scenario. And then a novel cooperative optimization approach based on pseudospectral method is proposed to improve the coupling efficiency. The simulation results show that trains behaviors cooperate with each other to get coupled efficiently.
