A Novel 36-Pulse Rectifier With a Voltage-Quadrupling Interphase Reactor

To suppress the harmonics of the input current under the condition of a small turns ratio of the interphase reactor, a voltage-quadrupling interphase reactor (VQ-IPR) is proposed and a novel 36-pulse rectifier which adopts the VQ-IPR is obtained. The VQ-IPR increases the output states of two sets of 9-phase full-wave rectifiers firstly, then the pulse number of the rectifier is increased from 18 to 36. The shape of the input current THD of the proposed rectifier is changed to approximately sinusoidal with THD decreased below 5%. The proposed VQ-IPR can reduce the turn ratio and decrease the voltage stress of the I-IPR to one-fourth of the existing pulse-doubling interphase reactor (PD-IPR). . In the proposed rectifiers, it has the benefits of simple structure, high reliability, and cost-efficient. A series of simulation results are served to testify the realness of the theory.
