A Study on 500W Wireless Power Transfer for Long-Distance Wireless TV Application

This paper proposed a wireless power transfer (WPT) system designed specifically for televisions, capable transmitting 500W of power within airgap of 250 mm. Among them, the loose coupling transformer (LCT) wireless charging pad within the WPT system is mainly optimized to enhance the coupling coefficient of the LCT, while improving system efficiency and reducing magnetic field radiation. Firstly, the ferrite guidance method is used to optimize the design of the number and pitch of teeth of the coil based on the dipole multi-E structure. Considering the impact of different number of teeth and pitch on the coupling coefficient, resulting in the design of three case of LCTs. Secondly, a metal shielding method is employed, the coupling coefficient and magnetic induction intensity are analyzed using finite element simulation tools. Additionally, the shape of the aluminum plate is designed to minimize electromagnetic field radiation. Finally, to validate the feasibility of the proposed system, two sets of 500W prototypes are constructed for comparison, confirming the superior transmission performance of the proposed multi-E structure dipole coil.
