Research on Maximum Wave Energy Capture Strategy Based on Resembling Model Prediction

The world contains abundant reserves of wave energy, which is one of the most important ways to solve the energy problem. A direct-drive wave energy generation system is used as an energy conversion device. The direct-drive wave energy generation system has two tasks: wave energy conversion and reference power tracking. In this paper, an RMPC (Resembling Model Predictive Controller) strategy is proposed to construct the objective function for maximum power capture by projecting the optimization parameters onto a Fourier basis. A simple PI feed-forward decoupling strategy is used to track the power after the wave energy conversion is completed. Simulation results show high efficiency in capturing wave energy.
