Common Mode Voltage Reduction in Hybrid Cascaded Converter with Multicarrier PWM Scheme

The research discusses the common mode voltage (CMV) reduction in hybrid cascaded converter (HCC) with multicarrier pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme. The conventional cascaded converter utilized H-bridge converters in the medium voltage AC to DC and DC to AC systems has attracted attention. However, the cascaded converter utilized H-bridge converters maintenance the DC-side voltages of capacitor is complex and the CMV issue is not well discussion. Therefore, the HCC consists of one three-phase two-level cell and H-bridge converters with multicarrier PWM scheme is proposed to reduce the number of DC-side capacitors and the converters output CMV. In order to evaluate the characteristics of the HCC with multicarrier PWM scheme, power simulation software is utilized. The HCC with multicarrier PWM scheme exhibits excellent performances.
