Switched Impedance Source Based Series-Parallel Hybrid Converters with Multiple AC and single DC Boost Output

This study introduces switched impedance source-based series-parallel hybrid converters (SISHCs), designed to supply multiple three-phase ac outputs alongside a boost dc output concurrently. Modification of the quasi-impedance source inverter central switch incorporates n parallel or series-linked three-phase inverters, resulting in the proposed SISHCs. The parallel version provides n ac outputs with identical voltages and varied load currents, accompanied by one boost dc. Conversely, the series version delivers n ac outputs with uniform load current and diverse voltages. Hybrid sinusoidal pulse width modulation with constant frequency shoot-through facilitates converter operation. These converters, capable of concurrently providing multiple ac and one boost dc output, eliminate the need for local power electronic adapters in hybrid microgrids and three-phase industrial loads. A closed-loop system with two converter units, each supplying two ac outputs and one boost dc, was implemented and validated through a 560-W prototype, confirming the practical viability of the proposed converters.
