High-performance Current Harmonic Suppression for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Based on First-order Vector Resonant Controller

The slot effect and nonlinearities in the motor driver of the permanent magnet synchronous motor result in current harmonics that lead to torque pulsations. High-performance scenarios with complex and changing current performance requirements necessitate better current harmonic control methods to meet application requirements. To enhance the dynamic response performance of current control, this paper suggests extracting the 5th and 7th harmonics from the current using a first-order vector resonant controller (OVPR) in the αβ coordinate system and injecting the harmonics through harmonic injection to actively mitigate the harmonic currents while suppressing current harmonics and torque pulsations. The control strategy effectively suppresses current harmonics and torque pulsations, resulting in improved dynamic control effects and waveform. Real-time tracking of commanded current further enhances performance. Experimental results demonstrate the ability of the strategy to effectively control current and suppress harmonics, improving dynamic performance.
