Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop Emulation of Synchronous Motor with Inter-Turn Short-Circuit Fault

Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) is widely used in the field of electric vehicles. In order to test the response of drive controller to the PMSM with inter-turn short circuit fault and accelerate the iterative testing of fault-tolerant drive controller, a power hardware in the loop (PHIL) simulation system which can emulate interturn short circuit fault of PMSM is designed. In this paper, the model of PMSM with inter-turn short circuit fault is analyzed, and the control method is optimized. Three-phase voltage source inverter is used as power amplifier to fulfill the power stage emulation. Experiments have been carried out to validate the PHIL system.
