Fault-Tolerant Predictive Current Control for Open-Circuit Dual Three-Phase PMSMs with Harmonic Suppression

In this paper, a fault-tolerant predictive current control strategy for a one-phase open-circuit dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor system with harmonic suppression is proposed, which is capable of effectively controlling the harmonics induced by a non-sinusoidal back electromotive force under faulty operating conditions. Firstly, a fully decoupled model for the faulty motor is established based on the theory of double transformation, which solves the problem of strong coupling between the direct-axis and quadrature-axis voltages. Moreover, the distribution of space voltage vectors for a single-phase open-circuit system is provided and harmonic-free virtual vectors with the largest possible amplitude are constructed by recombining the fundamental voltage vectors. Thus, the proposed scheme can effectively eliminate harmonics while maintaining high utilization of DC bus voltage. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the scheme.
