A Parameter-Free Model Predictive Current Control for PMSM Drives Based on Motor Parameter Estimation

The precision of motor parameters is essential for optimizing the performance of the control system in a surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM). To alleviate the adverse control effects on the overall control system due to inaccurate motor parameters, this paper proposes a parameter-free model predictive current control method based on motor parameter estimation (MPE-MPCC). This method does not necessitate the use of precise motor parameters. Instead, it estimates the motor parameters by formulating an objective function. This estimation process aims to achieve a control effect similar to that of conventional MPCC. The key advantage of this approach is its ability to operate when motor parameters and working conditions are either unknown or subject to variation over time. Consequently, it eliminates the need for repeated motor parameter measurements.
