Constant Voltage Charging of IPT System under Various Coupling Coefficients and Load Conditions Based on Switched-Controlled Capacitor

Constant voltage (CV) charging is an essential stage in battery charging within an inductive power transfer (IPT) system. However, most existing research primarily focuses on investigating CV output under various load conditions. When the coupling coefficient varies, the output voltage correspondingly fluctuates. To address this issue, this paper proposes a CV output method for IPT systems.The dual-side LCC (inductive-capacitor-capacitor) configuration is chosen as the fundamental compensation network due to its constant current (CC) output characteristic. In the proposed method, the series compensation capacitors on both the primary and secondary sides are replaced with switched-controlled capacitors. By adjusting the capacitance of these switched-controlled capacitors, the system can achieve CV output. Simulation results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
