Smooth Switching of Bidirectional AC/DC Converter for Lunar Surface Movement Tool

The use of bidirectional AC/DC converters can recover the energy consumed by the braking of lunar moving tools, significantly improving the range. However, there are always certain voltage and current surges during the bidirectional switching process, which can easily burn out the switching tubes of the converter and reduce the lifespan of the battery. At the same time, because the lunar rover is not easy to maintain on the lunar surface, high reliability requirements are required. Such surges are often fatal to the lunar rover, so eliminating surges for smooth switching is of great significance. This article optimizes the PI parameters based on the transfer function curves at different speeds, achieving stable energy recovery and smooth impact free switching at different speeds, better protecting the battery and converter, and improving the reliability of the manned lunar rover. Finally, simulation and experiments have verified the feasibility of this design.
