Streamlined Tuning of H∞ Control for Electric Vehicle Motors

This paper introduces the application of
$\mathrm{H}\infty$
control in permanent-magnet synchronous motors for electric vehicles. It aims to overcome challenges arising from variations between nominal and actual parameters caused by factors like temperature fluctuations, material aging, and magnetic saturation.
$\mathrm{H}\infty$
control is selected for its robustness against motor parameter uncertainties; however, the complexity associated with generating weighting functions is acknowledged as a drawback. To address this issue, the article proposes a straightforward and systematic method for tuning weighting functions. The simulation results compellingly illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed tuning method, highlighting its ability to reduce the system's sensitivity to parameter variations and enhance overall control robustness.
