Overview of Intra Template Matching Tools in ECM

To explore the next standardization of future video coding technologies after Versatile Video Coding (VVC) standard was finalized, the Joint Video Exploration Team (JVET) with many video coding experts are working on the exploitation experiment for the compression enhancement beyond VVC capability. Intra template matching is one of the technologies which is studied and adopted in the experiment model. This paper provides an overview and technical detail discussions of intra template matching.
