Exploring the Current Landscape of Educational Technology in China

Educational technology has evolved as a critical area of educational research and development, with an emphasis on using technological improvements to improve teaching and learning processes. China has seen a considerable increase in the adoption and deployment of educational technology solutions across its school system in recent years. This study performs a bibliometric analysis of data acquired from the Scopus database to get insights into the current landscape and developments of educational technology in China. Bibliometric analysis is a systematic and quantitative way to analyze academic publications that enables scholars to investigate patterns, trends, and important contributors within a certain study field. The results showed that the number of documents and citations has increased quite well, although the curve shows the dynamics. Furthermore, some of the most used keywords are E-learning, COVID-19, Virtual Reality, Gamification, and Big Data. Educational technology in China continues to evolve, driven by advancements in AI, e-learning, VR, gamification, and Big Data analytics. These developments have the potential to enhance the quality of education, improve learning outcomes, and address the diverse needs of students in a rapidly changing digital era. The findings of this study can inform policymakers, educators, and researchers in making informed decisions and developing strategies to further enhance the quality of education in China through the effective integration of educational technology.
