Energy Saving and Pressure Distribution of The Rotating Control Plate Distributor

A consensus in the analysis of piston pump and motor is to consider the interface between the cylinder and valve plate seriously affects the overall performance. Although the design of this critical lubricating interface focusing on plane and spherical valve plate has received considerable attention from many researchers, an in-depth analysis of eccentric control plate rotating synchronized with the drive shaft is completely rare. To address this, the present work developed a simulation model to analyze and optimize the output characteristics of a machine equipped this distributor. For the purpose, this work first performed a mathematic study to account for the dynamics of the floating bodies. Then a CFD simulation of the pressure distribution of the control plate at different positions under a low viscosity oil and high-pressure conditions verified that the error between theoretical results and simulation results does not exceed 3%. On this basis, a computation model for mechanical and volumetric losses were presented. Aiming to minimize energy losses, the clearance and inner and outer diameters of sealing ring have been optimized and designed through a optimization algorithm. Compared to poor design, the efficiency of the new motor with optimized parameters has increased by more than 30%. The model and design have been validated through experiments.
