Fuzzy PID Control Method with Dual Closed-Loop for Damping Control of Electric Fuel Pump

This study proposes an improved double-loop fuzzy PID control strategy to address the flow coupling pulsation problem of the electric fuel pump for small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Firstly, a control system based on the PID control algorithm is designed. Then, double-loop control and fuzzy PID control strategies are applied to address the issues of torque pulsation in the electric motor and pressure pulsation in the gear pump. The inner loop adopts conventional PID control, while the outer loop utilizes the fuzzy PID control for speed control. Simulation results show that the proposed control strategy can effectively enhance the stability and response of the pump speed control, reduce the torque pulsation in the electric motor and the pressure pulsation in the gear pump.
