Effective Interface Simulation Approach Based on Peak Distortion Analysis for UCIe IPs

This paper proposes a simulation approach that determines the worst-case bit sequences of the rectangular eye mask using the peak distortion analysis to design UCIe interface channel effectively. UCIe interface utilizes the rectangular eye mask to measure the eye-opening. The specific four points of the eye mask are defined and the peak distortion analysis is applied to those four points, then the unified worst-case bit sequences for each single bit is generated by attaching the worst-case bit sequences determined at four points. In order to validate the proposed simulation approach, an example of an UCIe-A interface is designed and the eye-diagram simulation is conducted with various PRBS bits and the proposed bit sequences. The eyeopening difference between the proposed bit sequences and PRBS18 is 5.7%, whereas the simulation time of them is 0.68 hours and 70 hours, respectively. Further, the crosstalk effects in UCIe interface are investigated according to the number of aggressors included in the simulation and it is demonstrated that the crosstalk effects have a significant impact on the eye-opening.
