Formation of Bessel Type Acoustic Beams for Underwater Communications

A scheme based on two axicons is proposed, which makes it possible to form small-ring acoustic beams of the Bessel type with a central intensive maximum and a small number of lateral rings. The small number of rings in the transverse intensity distribution, the suppressed divergence of the central maximum at large distances (up to tens of kilometers), and the ability for self-reconstruction of the wave front make the use of such Bessel-type beams promising for underwater communication systems.
