Some Ways of Informational Instrumentation for Adaptive Urban Traffic Control by Monitoring Data Treatment

The paper treats the ways to provide adaptive traffic light regulation of traffic flow with the necessary data, both those characterizing the current local situation and statistical dependencies of stochastic traffic flow dynamics. The second purpose is to demonstrate the use of these data in regulating the passage of an intersection based on automatic control principles. It is shown how to determine the necessary variables by processing data from permanent impersonal observation by technical means on a recommended set of boundaries using the knowledge of detailed intersection structure and spatio–temporal patterns in heterogeneous traffic flow. It is shown how the processed data may be used to improve the conditions for efficient and safe traffic when passing a crossroads domain. The experience of computer simulation shows the expected reduction in traffic delays, as well as the possibility of choosing the most efficient regulation method for a specific traffic situation.
