Software-Defined Radio Wireless Communication Technology Design. LTE MIMO Mode Validation

This paper is focused on the implementation of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology in Long- Term Evolution (LTE) mobile networks and discusses the signal generation in LTE, detailing its process for multi-antenna transmission. It considers the combination of transmission and reception with spatial diversity as a method of increasing the reliability of the communication channel by reducing the effect of fading by simultaneous transmission of redundant information from several antennas and combining the received signals by several antennas. In particular, the implementation of Alamouti orthogonal space-time block code (OSTBC) at the transmitter, combined with maximum ratio combining (MRC) at the receiver, are described and experimentally validated with USRP B210 Software-Defined Radio (SDR) boards. Software realization of MIMO transmission and reception is performed in Matlab.
