Acousto-Optic Methods for Multispectral Scanning of the Multi-Layer Image in the Field of Art History

In the present study, the feasibility of using acousto-optic methods for multispectral imaging in the field of art history was explored. To achieve this goal, a set of samples was created that simulated a pencil sketch under a layer of oil paint. The acousto-optical research method made it possible to visualize an image hidden under a layer of paint. In this study, the acousto-optical method was used to visualize a pencil sketch hidden under a layer of oil paint. For this purpose, a set of samples was created, consisting of a primed canvas with pencil drawings, covered with a layer of oil paint. The acousto-optical method made it possible to obtain an image of a pencil sketch without damaging the paint layer. The results obtained showed that acousto-optical methods can be successfully used for multispectral imaging in the field of art history. This opens up new opportunities for research and restoration of works of art.
