A Study on Current Travel Patterns and Anticipated Impacts of the Qatar Bahrain Causeway

This study investigates the current travel patterns and expectations of individuals commuting between Qatar and Bahrain, with a specific focus on the anticipated impact of the proposed Qatar Bahrain Causeway (QBC) on their behaviors. A diverse demographic profile, including gender, age, nationality, marital status, and income, is analyzed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the participant base shaping the study. The study explores the existing travel dynamics, modes of transportation, and purposes of travel among respondents. Using a questionnaire, the study identified the current challenges faced by commuters and their expectations regarding the QBC's potential to improve regional connectivity. The results showed that that a significant portion of respondents currently travel between Qatar and Bahrain, with a preference for air and road transport. Tourism and business were listed as primary motivations for travel. The results showed a 12% increase in the willingness to travel to Bahrain after the construction of QBC, with over 50 percent of the travelers willing to use the causeway. Participants expected reduced travel costs, shorter journey times, and increased convenience.
