Modification of Artificial Womb in Combination with Modern Neonatal Incubator Principles

According to the World Health Organisation(WHO), preterm birth is considered as the main cause for increase in infant mortality rate all around the world. When an infant is born before the completion of 37 weeks of pregnancy, it is termed as a preterm birth. As per reports, in 2022, preterm birth affected about 1 of every 10 infants born in the United States. To provide a suitable environment for the growth and development of such premature infants, even those born at 22 weeks of gestation, an artificial womb along with an artificial placenta and umbilical cord is being developed. At present, such premature infants are supported and monitored using neonatal incubators.
