Stochastic Harmonics Evaluation for Offshore Wind Farms Grid Connection Impact Study

The offshore wind power plant grid-connected harmonic analysis is inherently influenced by numerous uncertainties, which introduce a level of risk to the analysis results. To address this, stochastic analysis emerges as a viable approach for assessing such a problem. To provide more reliable analysis results, a stochastic harmonics evaluation approach is proposed in this paper for offshore wind farm grid connection impact study. The behaviors of critical parameters, such as active components that contribute harmonic currents and passive components that affect harmonic power flows, external grid background harmonics, and system topology, are modeled in a stochastic way and taken into account in harmonic power flow computation by Monte Carlo simulations. Test results of a real-world offshore wind farm grid connection impact study are presented and compared with those obtained by a deterministic method.
