Distributed Monitoring System (DMS) Evaluation with Level of Coverage (LOC) Implementation

The use of energy-efficient solutions provides many benefits such as reduced energy expenditures, with direct and indirect benefits ( increased business competition and mitigation of the risk of energy poverty for families); reduced overall energy demand of states, with fewer imports and increased energy security; less infrastructure as a result of less energy production and transmission (fewer power plants and transmission and distribution lines); reduced emissions, with immediate benefits on air quality and population health; and the creation of new employment chains in industry and energy services. This paper will provide a method for energy efficiency assessment which will consist of the set of regulations, management practices and technological solutions that bring an energy efficiency benefit, particularly in the case study that will be examined will be made for the industrial field. To do this, it is necessary to define a Distributed Measurement and Monitoring System (DMS) characterized by a hierarchically composed architecture, providing for the installation of meters, instruments and communication protocols, capable of reading, analyzing and storing the behavior of the reference quantities of the electrical system to which applied. Central to this is the Coverage Factor, which is a quantitative index capable of representing the ability to monitor the energy consumption of Significant uses from different zones of the building.
