Specific Absorption Rate and Input Power on 915MHz Microstrip Applicator with Hyperthermia Treatment

This paper investigates the application of a 915MHz microstrip applicator for hyperthermia treatment. Hyperthermia involves heating cancerous tissue within the temperature range of $40^{\circ}\mathrm{C}$ to $45^{\circ}\mathrm{C}$. The study explores the effectiveness of the microstrip applicator under two input conditions, 1W and 10W, considering various tumor sizes on a 915MHz microstrip applicator. The hyperthermia model incorporated a microstrip antenna and a breast phantom consisting of tumors. The simulation was conducted using SEMCAD X. The findings demonstrate that 10W input power results in a significantly higher Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) than 1W. Additionally, the time required to achieve the desired heating is notably shorter at 10W compared to 1W. The microstrip applicator response to different input power is crucial for optimizing the tumor heating process. This study provides valuable insights into the design of a rectangular 915MHz microstrip applicator for hyperthermia therapy.
