A Proposed Guide for the Energy Plan and Electrical Infrastructure of a Port

A guideline for the port system master plan must provide innovative and redevelopment solutions in short, medium and long-term energy planning. It can contribute in the competitiveness competition of its geographical sector to the pursuit of objectives of high performance, functionality, service continuity (Business Continuity) and eco-sustainability. The provision of organizational procedures and tools can favor the use of the various incentives available or to be promoted with adequate regulation. The use of electricity in the port system area in its overall energy needs and competitive functionality must be managed in a single integrated user vision such as a "port-grid" or port microgrid. The energy and environmental planning of the port system must define the strategic guidelines and specific implementation measures to improve energy efficiency and encourage the use of renewable energy in the port area. In fact, the energy and environmental sustainability criteria must be aimed at satisfying the promoted policies regarding the conversion of all port equipment to zero emissions within the next decade, starting with equipment for handling goods. They require business continuity management for better operational efficiency and a reorganization of the electrical distribution architecture (architecture efficiency) for the unification of all users and the implementation of innovations.
