Load Aggregator Management System Implementation Supporting the Thailand Demand Response Pilot Project 2022-2023

The Thailand National Energy Plan (NEP) aims to push Thailand toward carbon neutrality within 2050 and net-zero emissions by 2065. Demand Response (DR) is an important feature of the Smart Grid technology to modernize the electrical system which can reduce the peak demand toward the goal of carbon neutrality. MEA is the Distribution System Operator (DSO) acting as the Load Aggregator (LA). This paper presents the Load Aggregator Management System (LAMS) implementation under the Smart Metro Grid project supporting the Thailand Demand Response Pilot Project 2022-2023. The integration of LAMS with Demand Response Management System (DRMS) by OpenADR2.0b protocol is addressed. The test process results of registration, action during the events and the reports are also shown with the lesson learned. Consequently, MEA is ready for new business process and business model for a new paradigm of Thailand’s energy market.
