Optimizing Smart Inverter Performance for Reliable Voltage Recovery in Korean Power System

The grid connection of DERs changes the power system characteristics, and the output characteristics of DERs, which are variable and asynchronous devices, weakens the strength of the power system. To solve this problem, the power utility companies establish grid connection regulations considering the characteristics of the grid. Therefore, this paper defines a voltage control algorithm of a smart inverter that can satisfy the voltage recovery characteristics of DERs in case of serious system faults. Based on an actual system data in Korea, implemented an instantaneous value model of the smart inverter and constructed a LVRT system to verify the voltage recovery characteristics using MATLAB/Simulink.
