Smart Mobility for Enhanced Transit-Oriented Development: Traffic Microsimulation Approach

Smart mobility encompasses a range of innovative, technology-driven solutions designed to enhance transportation systems and urban mobility. It complements transit-oriented development (TOD) by making public transportation more convenient, accessible, and appealing to residents. This study aims to evaluate and recommend strategies for leveraging smart mobility practices to enhance accessibility, convenience, and overall quality of life within TOD areas, ultimately advancing the broader objectives of sustainable urban development. The study features a traffic microsimulation in a case study station in Bangkok, serving as an efficient platform to examine the potential consequences of policy measures in terms of traffic performance and environmental impact. The simulation scenarios encompass various measures, including station-front development, network connectivity improvement, and the introduction of smart ridesharing services. The results shed light on the implementation measures crucial to enhancing TOD with smart mobility, offering valuable insights for urban planners and policymakers.
