Design and Modeling of an Integrated Hybrid Generation System in Bangladesh Using PV, Wind, and Batteries

This study seeks to provide a framework for sustainable energy paradigms in light of increasing reliance on fossil fuels and the depletion of finite resources. A complete model for a hybrid system that integrates solar photovoltaic (PV), and wind energy conversion systems (WECS) is constructed using MATLAB/Simulink mathematical expressions. The model specifically addresses Bangladesh’s complicated energy requirements. A key feature of this hybrid system is the integration of a Battery Management System, strategically used to store excess energy generated by both the wind turbine and solar PV modules. Utilizing a bidirectional converter, the battery interacts with the load, facilitating both charging and discharging to balance between supply and demand. The model is implemented on the MATLAB/Simulink platform, and it systematically analyses the proposed hybrid system, taking into consideration various environmental circumstances. The WECS provides DC power to the load through the use of a rectifier and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). Simultaneously, a boost converter synced with Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) precision meticulously regulates the PV system. The energy sources come collectively at a central DC bus, from which their combined output is evenly distributed to a shared DC load. This paper suggests a Wind-PV and Battery Hybrid Generation System using MATLAB/Simulink as a strategic solution to Bangladesh’s complex energy dynamics, offering higher efficiency, reliability, and overall sustainability.
