Design and Performance Evaluation of MIMO Antenna for UWB Applications Using Four Spanner Shaped Patches

Rogers RO3003 (lossy) dielectric substrate, whose permittivity is 3. The antenna has been featured with four spanner shaped patches, arranged orthogonally. Additionally, there has been brought out a Defected Ground Structure (DGS) at the antenna’s ground, which was intended to improve isolation among the elements of the antenna to lessen interference or cross-talk problem. All the results and outcome mentioned in this paper in favour of our proposed design, were obtained from CST studio suite simulation. The operating bandwidth (BW) of the antenna was found 25 GHz, ranging from 2.69 GHz to 27.54 GHz. Additionally, the Diversity Gain (DG) was observed ≤10 dB and the Envelop Correlation Coefficient (ECC) was found 1.68e-7 for this suggested geometry. Also the average isolation performance was found −54.98 dB. Furthermore, the maximum radiation efficiency and total efficiency was recorded 80% and 85% respectively for this suggested design geometry.
