Optimizing Cell Allocation in 6TiSCH Networks based on Node Density Using K-Means Clustering

The 6TiSCH architecture is instrumental in meeting the stringent requirements of industrial IoT for reliable coordinated communication. Effective cell allocation is paramount in dense node traffic distribution patterns to avoid packet loss. This paper introduces a K-means clustering to optimize cell allocation by mapping communication needs between nodes to improve network performance. Through evaluation across various node scenarios and comparison between MSF and grid-based K-means results, this strategy demonstrates improvements in average performance metrics: a 9.03% increase in Packet Delivery Ratio, a 20.07% reduction in End-to-End Latency, a 21.99% decrease in Joining Times, and a 25.48% enhancement in Throughput.
