Circular Split SRR Cornered by Staircase Shaped Metamaterial Absorber for 5G and X Band Applications

A Unique circular split shape with a subwavelength-sized, high effective medium ratio (EMR=λ/L) of 14.29 metamaterial (MTM) absorber is proposed that achieves double negative MTM properties with co- and cross-polarization insensitivity up to 90°, which can be applied for 5G applications and Starlink Receiver Antenna efficiency improver. We get absorption of 99.74%, 98.26%, 91.30%, 99%, and 98.54% at 3.5 GHz, 4.88 GHz, 8.57 GHz, 10.7 GHz, and 11.88 GHz, respectively, with the refractive index being negative with permittivity and permeability showing near zero and negative properties. The dimension of the absorber is 0.07λ x 0.07λ which is compact in shape and can also be used for sensing applications. In the future, the study may be extended to explore the use of Nonlinear and Quantum Metamaterial absorbers, which will allow us to investigate how the nonlinear features of materials can be utilized to control absorption characteristics.
