Voltage Harmonics Mitigation of Non-linear Loads using Model Predictive Control in a Three Phase System

The escalating integration of non-linear loads, driven by the proliferation of electronic devices, has given rise to a pressing concern—harmonic distortion in three-phase power systems. This paper addresses the critical need for effective voltage harmonics mitigation strategies to alleviate adverse impacts on power quality and system reliability. Leveraging the power of model predictive control (MPC), our research aims to revolutionize the approach to harmonics suppression. By dynamically optimizing control parameters in response to evolving system conditions, the proposed MPC algorithm demonstrates a proactive and adaptive solution to reduce harmonic content. Additionally, the integration of an LC filter further enhances harmonic attenuation. Simulation results underscore the viability of this approach, showcasing its potential to enhance the performance and resilience of three-phase power systems in the presence of non-linear loads.
