Design and Implementation of Isolated DC-DC Low Voltage and High Power Converter

Power Electronics Converters (PECs) play a crucial role in integrating Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) with DC microgrids and facilitating charging applications for Electrical Vehicles (EVs). In the contemporary context, there is a growing emphasis on high-current charging for faster EV charging. Meeting the demand for higher currents in fast-charging applications necessitates the use of high-power electronics converters. However, traditional high-power capacity converters often suffer from drawbacks such as larger size, lower efficiency, and higher costs. This paper proposes the potential of a two-switch forward technology-based converter: The proposed converter offers a compact size, improved efficiency, and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional high-power converters. The design has undergone real-time testing under various conditions, including source and load changes while maintaining constant voltage regulation. The results demonstrate the converter’s effectiveness in addressing the challenges associated with high-current fast charging in EVs.
