Synthesis and Characterization of Titanium dioxide Nanoparticles for Sensor Applications

The newest, most promising, and most active field of modern study is nanotechnology. Metal oxides have been used in variety of nanotechnology applications. Due to superior chemical stability, electrical conductivity, and optical conductivity, TiO
2
nanoparticles are currently commonly utilised in gas sensors. In the present work, titanium tetraisopropoxide is used as a precursor and Terminalia catappa seed extract is used as fuel to synthesize TiO
2
nanoparticles through solution combustion. The produced nanoparticles surface shape and crystallinity were examined. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), and UV visible spectroscopy were used to examine these features. The XRD data shows good crystallinity. Synthesised nanoparticles show spherical shapes and a low degree of agglomeration from SEM and TEM investigation. TiO
2
nanoparticles that have been produced show good microstructural qualities and have potential use in gas sensing.
